The Tricel electrical hockey stick is a standard compliant item designed to sheath and protect a cable, or cables, from one location to another. It is generally put to use protecting a mains electric cable as it enters the meter box from its location below ground.

Made from robust, white uPVC, the hockey stick is supplied in a standard length of 1.5m and is suitable for both use within a cavity, and for external applications. The Tricel hockey stick is compliant for use with three-phase electric meter boxes too.

When installing the hockey stick always remember the following:

The Tricel hockey stick should extend at least 25mm (1 inch) into the meter box. Aim to trim the end of the hockey stick following installation into the meter box.

When constructing a cavity wall in which the meter box is set, it is easier to install the hockey stick as the wall is built, rather than retrofitting afterwards.

When installing the hockey stick, make sure that it is set at least 100mm apart from any other incoming services, or other ducting, i.e. containment for outside lighting.

The bottom of the hockey stick must be level with the incoming main electrical feed to ensure that there is only one bend in the incoming cable.

Seal the end of the hockey stick with a proprietary weatherproof electrical sealing tape.

A hockey stick is a British Building Regulations requirement, and the final connection to a meter by a utility company may not go ahead without one. To avoid delay to a project, and to remain compliant, make sure you order yours in good time.
