Description
This 8mm Irwin HSS TCT drill bit is a popular size for industrial drilling applications in hardened materials. The 8mm diameter is extensively used across engineering, fabrication, and maintenance work for creating substantial fastener holes, mounting points, and structural connections in demanding materials. Featuring a C2 tungsten carbide tip, this drill bit is designed to penetrate hardened steel, cast iron, bronze alloys, and manganese alloyed steel up to 50 Rockwell C hardness. The four-facetted ground tip delivers precise centring from the start of drilling, whilst reducing the drilling pressure required for more controlled operation. This is particularly important at 8mm diameter where maintaining accuracy under higher forces is essential. The Chrome Vanadium Steel body, hardened to 56 Rockwell C, ensures the drill bit withstands the rigours of drilling hard materials. This 8mm bit is engineered for use with stationary drilling machines and achieves optimal performance when operated with a 3-6% coolant emulsion. Following Irwin's coolant recommendation significantly extends tool life and maintains consistent cutting performance. Features and Benefits: • 8mm diameter for substantial fastener holes • Tungsten carbide tip handles up to 50 Rockwell C hardness • Excellent centring with four-facetted grind • Hardened body for demanding conditions • Single drill bit per pack Specifications: Tip Diameter (mm): 8.0 Working Length (mm): 75 Overall Length (mm): 117 Pack Qty.: 1 Diameter: 8.0mm.
