The Gyproc Shaftwall system integrates specialised components with Gyproc Studs & Channels to construct a lightweight, fire-resistant framework that protects building elements in confined spaces with one-way access. The device creates a protective frame that can be implemented early in the building process without the use of scaffolding. A fire-resistant membrane can also be created by constructing the device horizontally. These membranes can be formed entirely from the ground up. As an alternative to plasterboard, shaftwall components may be mixed with Glasroc F Firecase non-combustible boards. Gypwall Partitioning Components, especially 70mm stud solutions, have a high level of commonality. Where access to one side of the head is restricted, such as where mechanical and electrical cages are already mounted in corridors, a shaftwall may be used.
